Tuit Report
Kevin Miller appeared to return the TUIT from the financial world.
However, the only dividend that accrued was from Bill Long for not asking.
Doug Foss is now the proud holder of the world traveling TUIT
(which means that the TUIT is now touring golf courses).
Program:
Big Hatter President, Doyle Ehling, introduced Tom Hymer, fellow AMBUC, as our program.
Tom recently served on a mission trip to Honduras with Medical Ministry International for a one-week period. The ministry provides both spiritual and physical health care. Volunteers for the ministry include interpreters, optometrists, nurses and non-medical personnel.
Rural areas of the mountainous southwest region of Honduras were the destination on this occasion. Fifty percent of the people in this area are below the poverty line. With unpaved streets and no refuse service, certainly access to quality health care is not a possibility. Long lines of Honduran people formed for the rare opportunity to receive even a minimum level treatment.
Tom served as a dental assistant in a makeshift clinic in a local school. The only dental remedy provided was extraction of the tooth (novocaine, but no electricity for dental equipment). 250 patients and 500 extractions later, Toms adventure as a dental assistant was finished.
Further information about Medical Ministry International is available at www.mmint.org.
(Tom also provided photographic evidence of the TUIT in Honduras.)
